Abstract:    The general trust model is the result of cooperative experiences in response to climatic risks during historical agricultural production. This trust model maintains its long-term and sustained influence through intergenerational transmission, further impacting current corporate collaborative behaviors. Utilizing historical climate data from China spanning from 1470 to 1979, this paper examined the impact of historical climate risks on corporate collaborative innovation behaviors and the underlying mechanisms. The study found that in regions with higher historical climate risks, corporations exhibit higher levels of collaborative innovation; linguistic diversity and clan culture weaken the positive relationship between historical climate risks and corporate collaborative innovation; and the general trust model plays a mediating role in the relationship between historical climate risks and corporate collaborative innovation. This paper will provide a new perspective and explanatory logic for research on the antecedents of corporate collaborative innovation, thus enriching the intersectional study of climate social history and corporate behavior.
