摘要

本文分析供应商网络嵌入特征和异质性特征对买方企业的新产品新颖性和开发速度的影响。通过采用结构方程模型的方法对192家中国制造企业的数据进行分析, 我们发现基于社会关系的供应商网络嵌入程度对新产品的新颖性和开发速度均没有显著的影响, 然而基于IT技术的嵌入程度则能够同时改善新产品开发的新颖性和速度。结构嵌入显著提升新产品开发速度但不能提升新产品的新颖性。同时, 供应商网络的地理异质性和技术异质性将提高新产品的新颖性, 但是对新产品开发的速度没有显著影响。

Abstract

This paper investigates the effects of supplier networks' embeddedness and heterogeneity on buyer firms' NPD performance. Using structural equation modeling method to analyze data from 192 firms in Chinese manufacturing sectors, we find that social relational embeddedness of supplier networks has no significant effect on creativity or speed of NPD activities. However, IT-embeddedness correlates positively with two outcomes of NPD activities. Structural embeddedness correlates positively with the speed of buyer firms' NPD activities, but does not affect NPD creativity. Both geographical and technological heterogeneities of supplier networks improve NPD creativity, but do not have a significant influence on the speed of NPD activities.
